UK Finance Tools is independent, and the tools cost money to build and keep current. We are testing partner links on a few business calculators, to see whether they can pay for the site without costing readers anything.
What you will see
On some business calculators, under your result, you may see one box that starts with the label Ad. It names a product that fits what the calculator has just worked out, for example accounting software for a sole trader. When readers use that link, for example to sign up, the company pays us. Using our link does not add to the price you pay.
The label comes first, before the link, so you know it is an advert before you read it.
What the fee does not change
- Your result. A calculator gives the same answer whether or not the page shows a partner. No partner sees your figures or has any say in the maths.
- Where the links go. Partner links appear only on business calculators, such as the self-employed tax and VAT calculators. Guides, and pension, retirement and investment tools, carry none.
- Regulated products. We do not link to a regulated financial product, such as an investment, a pension, a loan or insurance, unless the provider has approved the exact words we use about it.
How we choose a partner
We show a product only when it fits what the calculator works out. Among products that fit, the fee does affect which one we show, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise. We compare partners on how many readers use them and on what they pay.
What a partner learns about you
Nothing from the calculator. Your figures stay in your browser, as they always have. The link tells the partner which of our pages you came from, and nothing about your figures.
Nothing from a partner loads on our pages, so a partner link sets no cookie on this site. When you click it, you leave our site. Like any website you visit, the partner's site then sees your visit, and the partner and the affiliate network that records the referral may set cookies on their own sites under their own privacy policies. If you leave usage statistics on, our Google Analytics counts the click and which partner it was for, and nothing more. Our privacy policy covers everything that happens on this site.
